Vision – Mission Statement
Kwa-Zulu squash union is a non-profit organization that promotes the game of squash.
While encouraging good sportsmanship, physical fitness, and enjoyment of the sport through leagues and tournaments.
Background
Kwa-Zulu Natal Squash Union manages the KZN league which runs from around April to November each year. This league consists of a Men’s league with nine divisions and one ladies league. All clubs in the province enter into this league. Depending on the size of the club, will influence the number of teams they enter. At the end of the league the winning teams are announced and top players and teams receive awards. Also the club of the year is announced and most of the bigger clubs hope to win this award. The league has just over 500 players playing each week.
The KZN sanctioned tournaments that run each year are the Gillitts Open, Westville Country Club Open, Durban Country Club Classic and the KZN Closed. We are pleased to announce two new tournaments to the calendar this year, the Kloof Country Club Open and the Northwood Crusaders Open. These events attract top players but also include the League and Social squash players. Loads of prizes and Prize money are up for grabs and lots of Hard/Fun squash is played at these events.
Development is a priority to the KZN Squash Union and the Union invests money into events to help develop players and the sport. These events happen throughout the year.

Letter from chairman
In 2003 I was selected to represent the Kwa-Zulu Natal Men’s C at the Jarvis cup. The team went on to win the C section that year. This was the start of my many years ahead playing for KZN at Jarvis. In 2004 I was selected for the KZN B side that played at Jarvis.
A year later I won the Jester Award.
I then went on tour as captain for The SA Knights Tour which toured the UK in December 2006 and January 2007. In the same year, I played in The Mauritius Squash Open and won the Play-off match to finish 3rd in the tournament. I continued to play for Durban Country Club 1st side and represent KZN at Jarvis.
In 2011 saw me leave SA for the UK which did not stop me being on the court. The following year I played in Guernsey Champs and finished Runner UP. 2013 saw my return to SA and again played for DCC and KZN at Jarvis.
From 2014 to 2018 saw me playing league for Berea rovers 1st team. When Rovers closed, I join Kloof and played 1st team at Kloof.
In 2019 I moved, from not just being on the court, but to helping run squash in KZN. I took on the acting role of Chairman and was the head of the 2019 Jarvis Committee which saw KZN host an amazing Growthpoint Inter-Provincial Tournament. At the end of 2019, I was elected as the chairman of KZN.
My years on the court did not stop me from meeting an amazing lady who I went on to marry, and have since had two beautiful daughters. My wife Shona, and daughters Scarlet & Hannah can often be seen on the sidelines supporting me and my love of the sport.
My role in the squash community has not just been on the court but also on the sidelines with the administration. I have many years of experience and hope to continue to grow the sport that I love.
Thank you for entrusting me with this role and look forward to a great year ahead.
